Year 5 pupils from a number of local schools have been taking part in Caistor Yarborough Academy’s primary outreach programme.

So far , this has included taster days and specialist workshops.

There are also plans in progress for a primary experience day and celebration evening.

Up to 80 pupils attended each of the two taster days from more than 12 different primary schools.

The children learnt about the science in creating a bath bomb, experienced tastes of Spanish and French cuisine, developed skills in trampolining and table tennis, baked and iced cakes, and designed and made a funky clock.

“The idea of the primary outreach work and the taster days was to give the students an idea of what it is like to study at CYA,” said Teacher of Music and primary Outreach Clare Cobb.

“The taster days allowed the students to meet staff, explore our site and get a feel for some of the subjects.

“Both days were fabulous and the students had a great time completing the different activities.”
