Nine Year 8 students from De Aston ventured to RAF Waddington to take part in this year’s Project X competition.
The project is all about engineering and design innovation and the team were challenged to plan, design and build a model aircraft with a release system to allow vital survival equipment to be safely delivered.
A range of skills was required for the task, including communication skills, practical skills and creative flair.
Once the challenge was complete, they also took part in some activities around the RAF Station and had chance to see some displays. “They did a brilliant job,” said Physics teacher, Neil Huddlestone, who accompanied them on the trip.
