Our schools come
 top of county class

Kelsey Primary School is celebrating again with their outstanding SATS results.

Schools across the Rasen area have finished the year on a high after the publication of the Key Stage 2 performance league tables.

In the Market Rasen Mail area, many of our schools are performing well above the national average - and it was Kelsey School who topped the figures.

After achieving outstanding SATS, the school has been placed top for primary schools within a radius of 10 miles - an area which covers 44 primary schools.

“The results are a tribute to the hard work put in by the children and the dedication of the staff,” said Magnus Smedley, headteacher of Kelsey School.

The school saw 100 per cent of the year six children achieve the expected level - level 4 - in both Maths and English, with 63 per cent reaching level 5, the level expected of a 14 year-old.

“The effort that these children put in was incredible and we are extremely proud of their achievements, along with that of their teachers.

“We hope that this continues as they progress through life,” added Mr Smedley.

Faldingworth, Hackthorn, Legsby and Normanby primary schools also achieved 100 per cent at level 4, with 50 per cent at Normanby and 33 per cent at Hackthorn reaching level 5.

For other local schools, the percentage of children the expected level in English and Maths were: Binbrook 77, Caistor 85, Grasby 87, Market Rasen 94, Middle Rasen 85, Nettleton 79 and Osgodby 63.

“The hard work and determination of schools – pupils, staff, governors and parents – is making a difference and has once again been rewarded with some impressive results,” said Coun Patricia Bradwell, executive councillor for children’s services.

“Lincolnshire children continue to achieve better than their contemporaries across the country. We are extremely proud of these achievements as we continue to outperform national averages.”
