The new Headteacher at St Mary’s Roman Catholic
Primary School in Brigg is David Sidaway.

He succeeds Tony Norton who retired in July.

Mr Sidaway has been Deputy Head at the school to Mr Norton, who he served as a teacher for eight years teaching Year 6 pupils.

Born in Scunthorpe, he was educated at St Bernadette’s School and then St Bede’s Roman Catholic Comprehensive School.

After studying for his degree at Newman College Birmingham, Mr Sidaway started his teaching career at South Parade School in Grimsby. He is a specialist Physical Education teacher.

Married to Emma, the couple have three children, Evie, Erin and Isaac.

And Mr Sidaway is excited about the challenges ahead at St Mary’s Academy.

“It is the start of a new era, but the school has strong traditions to build on,” he said. “I was honoured to be offered the job.

“Visitors often say the school has a special feeling. It’s good to be the head carrying that tradition forward into a new era, developing it further while maintaining the best of the past.

“We have some fantastic children and the family support we get is so special.”
