Head boy and head girl for the new school year at Legsby Primary School are Edward Parrish and Lily Merrigan.

And what a time to take on that role, as the school has been recognised by the Minister of State for Schools for “fantastic achievement”.

In a letter to headteacher David Miskell, the Rt Hon David Laws MP congratulated the school on its “excellent performance” in the new similar schools measure for 2012.

Legsby came 105th nationally when compared with identical intakes and figures showed more than 20 percent of its pupils achieved a level 4 or above in English and maths than is typical of a school with their intake.

“It is fantastic we have been recognised in this way again and I am really proud of the performance of the pupils and staff,” said Mr Miskell.

“The results reflect the personalised programme of education we can offer each child here at Legsby.”
