Friends of Lincolnshire Montessori – a charity Parent Teacher Association – is celebrating after securing more than £9,000 from the National Lottery.
The group, which supports the Caistor and Stallingborough nurseries and school, has been granted the funds through the Awards for All programme and will be using the money for an outdoor learning project at Caistor.
Working with Stallingborough based social enterprise GreenHeart, the group will provide a bespoke outdoor classroom with a grassed roof, which can be used by children of all ages, while older children will also be involved in a range of practical workshops with GreenHeart, including building the structure alongside trained professionals.
The funds will also be used to supporting Forest Schools qualifications for the staff team and provide den making resources
Chair of the Friends’ committee Amy Hunter said: “As a group of parents we are thrilled with the Lottery grant which will make a real difference to outdoor learning for lots of children.
“The fact that the children will be involved in constructing the outdoor classroom is a real bonus.”
