DE ASTON’S newly-formed equestrian team has been given a cash boost by Market Rasen Lions.

The team applied for matched funding of £190 from the Lions to go towards their two-day competition at Addington Manor Equestrian Centre in Buckinghamshire this month.

Members of the team also took part in the recent Market Rasen Lions ‘Only Fools and No Horses’ fun run and raised funds, but not all this money could be put towards the trip to Buckinghamshire as they also had imminent dressage events and training to take into consideration.

Lion John Fox spoke of the success of the recent fun run, which is planned to take place again next year, and encouraged other local causes to apply to the Market Rasen Lions regarding funding possibilities.

Mr Fox, who has been involved with De Aston School since his childhood, both as a student and as a teacher, said the establishment of an equestrian team was “phenomenal”.

“We are especially pleased to be able to donate to a group of people who played such an active part in the recent Lions fun run.”
