A MARKET Rasen nursery has been given a helping hand by a town supermarket.

Racing Start Nursery and Fun Club, based at the town’s racecourse, was delighted to receive a donation of £150 from the Tesco Community Sponsorship Budget.

Community champion for the Market Rasen branch Jenny Stimson went along to present the money to Racing Start manager Nicky East.

The nursery will also benefit from the company’s latest vouchers for schools scheme, along with Legsby School and Middle Rasen School and Nursery, whereby customers can donated their unwanted vouchers into the collecting box in store.

Meanwhile, the recent donation will go towards Racing Start’s fund for the nursery’s new premises which are in the pipeline.

As reported in the Rasen Mail, original plans to relocate to a site on De Aston Field appear to have been put on hold.

Director of children’s services, Debbie Barnes, said: “We are currently undertaking a feasibility study into options to respond to the need to maintain early years and childcare places within West Lindsey.

“Until we complete this study, we’re not in a position to confirm whether we wish to continue or change our plans for investment in this area.”

However, Nicky East is confident the move to new premises somewhere in the town will take place in the not too distant future.

Consequently, the donation from Tesco has come as a welcome boost to the fund to help the relocation.
