WHEN new PE teacher Daniel Toothill wanted to extend football provision at Market Rasen Primary School there was one problem – there were no goals.

Undaunted, Mr Toothill continued with his after-school football club, just one of the 20 or so different clubs run at the school, and now has 40 pupils attending.

But with such a large number of keen footballers it was important to raise the money for the goals, so Market Rasen Tesco was approached.

“We were delighted to help our local primary school get their goalposts,” said personnel manager Nicola Carolann, who went along to the school with community champion Jenny Stimson to present them with a cheque for £138.49.

Tesco shoppers raised the money by purchasing books from a second-hand stall at the store.

Now the goals are due to be delivered and the youngsters are looking forward to a host of fixtures against other local schools in the very near future.
