The new sixth form complex is located in one of the oldest parts of De Aston School.
The block had been used for many years as the art classrooms and these have now been knocked through and remodelled to create modern and well-equipped accommodation for the use of the older students, both for study and relaxation.
The facilities include a private study area, a group work-room, a designated computer suite and a bright and spacious common room.
And the outside of the building has received attention too.
New windows have been created to let in more light, but these have been sympathetically done to mirror the architectural features of the original Victorian structure.
The area between the ‘head’s house’ and the sixth form complex has also been levelled and repaved making it a safe and functional outside space.
Among the guests at the official opening, performed by Paralympic skier Jade Etherington, were Market Rasen’s Mayor and Mayoress John and Jayne Matthews.
