De Aston School’s students have again been praised for their Year 11 results, with 58 percent of the year group achieving at least one A grade.
The school had a significant number of students gaining the top A* grades, including Poppy Smith with ten A* grades and one A grade, one of the all-time best De Aston performers.
“I have done a lot better than I expected,” she said. “I am staying at De Aston to do science-based A-levels, with the aim of going to Cambridge to study Natural Sciences.”
Poppy was closely followed by Ciara Dodd with eight A* and two A grades, who will be staying at De Aston to study Chemistry, Biology, Maths and English Literature at A-level.
Other students who achieved top grades included Zachary Louth, 4A*and 5As, Luke Williams with 1A* and 8As, and Calvin Chow, with 3A* grades including an A*with Distinction.
Among the many others who also collected GCSE A*grades were Harriet Bibby, Daniel Carter, Kieron Chow, Gabriel Clarkson, Leo Eugster, Morenike Falana , George Frame, Rebecca Garbutt, Philippa Geddes, Juliet Haley, Carmen Negrillo Garcia-Figueras, Eleanor Nicholls, Jackson Thompson, Charlotte Toyne and Zoe Wilson.
“I wish to congratulate all the students who did GCSE and Vocational qualifications for their dedication and hard work,” said headteacher, Ellenor Beighton.
“Looking at what we know so far, there are many students who should be very proud of their achievements. Yet again, here are some super results at the highest grades in both traditional GCSEs and also Applied courses.”
