There was some hot competition at De Aston School, as sixth form students took part in the ‘Bake Off’

Judges - Judith Curtis, Pat Melbourne, Kerry Rivett and Chris Higgins - had an enjoyable time tasting the entries from the finalists, who had won through from the tutor group rounds.

But there could only be one winner - and it was the chocolate fondant with vanilla ice cream, created by Matthew Longstaff, Liam Goodge and Joe Smedley that won the day.

“Everything tasted excellent,” said head of sixth form Judith Curtis. “The aim is to get the students cooking to help prepare them for university life, as well as team-building.”
