Favourite books inspire stage production

‘Telling Tales’ was a departure from traditional productions at Brigg’s Vale Academy.

Students had a much greater involvement into the devising of scenes.

The production came out of ideas thrown out by literature that had engaged them in the past and the books they had enjoyed.

There was a range of theatrical styles and techniques and plenty of artistic license on display, all directed by Jo Weatherall and Rebecca Carmichael.

The show included extracts of a variety of literacy for both children and adults, including Alice in Wonderland, Harry Potter, Goldilocks, Cinderella, A midsummer Nights Dream, Performance poetry, Macbeth and Whale song.

Each extract was performed in a different style, which included dance, physical theatre and mask.
