Certificates were presented to students in years 7,8,9 and 10 in front of parents and invited guests.

Students who exemplified school spirit, both in their approach to studies and their conduct outside lessons, were recognised, together with those who made excellent academic progress and the highest academically performing students in years nine and ten.

On behalf of the governors, Market Rasen Mayor, John Matthews, said: “Thank you to all the teachers and support staff for another fantastic year at De Aston.

“We wish all students every success this summer with their exam results.”

Coun Matthews was also at the event to present this year’s Mayor’s Community Award in School.

In making the award, Coun Matthews said: “This year’s award goes to a young person who does an enormous amount of charity work.

“She is an all round nice person and her musical skills are incredible.”

The winner was year nine student Felicity Turner, who regularly performs for charity and last year released a sell-out charity CD.

Other special award winners were Adam Dame - Head’s award for Excellence - and Sky McCreadie - School Council Award.

This year, there were a large number of students who had 100 percent attendance through the year.

“As I always say, if you want to be successful in life you have to be there,” said head teacher Ellenor Beighton.

The names of those students with a full attendance were put into a draw and the lucky name picked out was year 8 student Holly Richards, who received a Kindle Fire.

The awards event was also a time to celebrate house achievements.

This year, the top spot was shared between Ancholme and Bain, with Rase in third and Witham fourth.
