Headteacher of Sir John Nelthorpe School in Brigg, Linda Hewlett-Parker, has retired.

Mrs Hewlett-Parker came to Brigg in 2001 after five years as Headteacher at John Summers High School in Queensferry near Chester. Her specialist subject as a teacher was English and she obtained her degree at Newcastle University.

Born in Hexham, Northumberland, she came to Brigg to take up the headship, knowing friends in the local area.

“I knew already the school was highly regarded,” said Mrs Hewlett-Parker.

“This school is an extended family.

“It is not all about exam results, though ours have been among the best.

“I recall other events like the Olympic Torch Day - the whole ethos of the school is important.”

Mrs Hewlett-Parker plans to stay in the local area and continue her links with the Rotary Club where she has been president for the past 12 months.

The new Head Teacher at Sir John Nelthorpe School is Robert Biglands presently Deputy Head at Healing Comprehensive School.
