Raising money for Across Lines at De Aston

Raising money for Across Lines at De Aston

Pupils at Market Rasen’s De Aston School have been trying their ‘cluck’ at a bit of fundraising lately.

Members of the 2013 World Challenge Team have been working with locally-based charity ‘Across Lines’ to raise further funds for the Emmanuel Orphanage in Bugiri, Uganda, which they visited during their summer expedition.

Tutor groups were asked to raise money to buy chickens for the orphanage.

Every £5 raised pays for one chicken and its care.

And more than £670 has been raised so far.

The largest amount was raised by 9B, who donated a total of £111.

8W1, 7A2 and 10A2 also raised large amounts.

George Fleetwood in 9B donated £10 of his own money, while Adam Dame in 8W1 raised an individual total of £55.

Year 10 pupils Megan Bird and Kaleb Cartledge-Taylor held a bake sale to raise funds for the appeal and also helped to raise awareness and collect money alongside world challenge Sixth Formers Nancy Bibby, Chloe Ashley, Emma Jakins and Carly Dunsmore.
