CHILDREN and staff at an after-school club are celebrating after a top inspection report.
Market Rasen’s Town and Country Kiddies on Mill Road was rated ‘good’ by inspectors after a visit to the after-school club in July.
The report, which has just been released, praises staff for their knowledge of child protection procedures and says children are happy and enjoy their time at the club.
Inspectors focused on the early years provision for children up to five years old, which runs for one hour before school and from 3pm-5pm after school.
The report said: “Children are fully supported and valued as unique individuals by the caring staff team.
“Older and younger children mix well together, with everyone showing a caring attitude towards others.
“Leadership and management of the setting is strong, resulting in a dedicated staff team who work effectively together to meet children’s individual needs.”
Inspectors were impressed parents are kept up to date with issues and events through noticeboard displays, discussions and newsletters.
Inspectors’ only criticism was staff not always setting up rooms to provide an interesting, attractive, accessible play space.
The club was praised for encouraging children to develop an interest in ICT and stay active and play outside.
It said: “All children are encouraged to be active and are provided with daily opportunities to play outside in the fresh air. They have great fun as they play football and ball catching games.”
The club, next to Market Rasen Primary School, has 42 children altogether.
Town and Country Kiddies manager Margaret Reeves said: “We’re delighted with our Ofsted report - it’s all down to the hard work and enthusiasm of the staff.
“Children like the friendly staff and range of activities.” For more information call 01673 843228.
