CHILDREN from Osgodby Primary School have again been showing their skills on the chess board.

Having qualified in their school heats, nine children spent the day at Lincoln Minster School, venue of the Lincolnshire Mega Finals of the Delancey UK Schools Chess Challenge.

Playing against other heat winners from schools and clubs across Lincolnshire, the Osgodby children were very successful.

James Peatfield and Charles Fox achieved the joint highest points scores for their age group, with James, being judged to have had the hardest rounds, being awarded the trophy and title Lincolnshire Mega Final 2012 Under 7 Supremo.

Isabel Taylor was awarded the Under 10 Suprema title and trophy, with three other children – Jack Mallinson, Wilf Marris and Harry Moore – all receiving rosettes for their achievements.

James, Charles and Isabel have now qualified for the Northern Giga Finals, which will be held in Derby on July 7.
