Christmas fair - The annual parish of Barkwith Group Christmas Fair was held in the village hall and raised £750.75.

Santa arrived to meet the children, mince pies and mulled wine were served and hot food was available on the barbecue for visitors as they browsed around the stalls.

The money raised will go towards the expenses of all the churches in the villages which remain open - Sixhills, South Willingham, Hainton, East Torrington and East Barkwith.

Charity shopping trip - The firm that provides coaches for the trips for the Gardeners Association organised a Christmas Shopping trip for charity to Norwich and one of the two coaches was filled with passengers from East Barkwith, Wragby and Horncastle, arranged locally by Les Robinson.

The services of the coach and driver were provided free by the firm and the £12 minimum fare requested was shared between Help for Heroes and the Darren Grose fund, for the son of a former driver for the firm who suffered a severe stroke in his 20s.

The £675 collected on the Barkwith area bus towards the total of £1,260.60 on the day will be available to help provide facilities to make Darren’s life a little brighter and more comfortable than it might otherwise have been.

Thanks were extended to all for the generous contributions .

Charity boost - David Ward, East Barkwith’s sub post master, has been congratulated by the Post Offices Charities Trust for raising £110.00 for Movember Europe and has been told a total of £220 has now been forwarded to the charity by the Trust.
The Post Office challenged staff to raise charity funds by offering then support with preparations and the opportunity to double what they raised individually through the Post Office Charities Trust.

David extends his thanks to everyone who supported him.
