Outing, auction, council and Post Office update.
Coach outing - A trip to Rockingham Castle in Northamptonshire on November 28 is the last outing of the year being organised by Les Robinson.
Two coaches have been booked and numbers are limited to a total of 90, as the day includes a meal in the castle and guided tours of the house in four groups.
There will also be an opportunity to explore the lovely gardens and, possibly, a call at Downtown near Grantham on the return journey.
Harvest Auction - The Cross Roads Inn was full for the harvest evening, where new hosts Mike and Denise extended a warm welcome to everyone.
A table was piled high of donated items for the charity auction sale of produce, with Mike Perkins of Perkins, George Mawer and Co giving his services as auctioneer.
He encouraged spirited bidding in his usual humorous way and a chocolate cake in particular, much in demand, was eventually sold for £20.
There was a large raffle too with lots of prizes at the event, arranged by Lyn Dobson, Kay Donocik and Joe Donocik, with the total proceeds of £710 being shared between LIVES and St Mary’s Church.
Thanks go to all who contributed and supported what was a very successful evening.
Parish Council - The next meeting of East and West Barkwith Parish Council will be held on Thursday November 21 at 8pm in the village hall.
Members of the public are entitled to attend and raise matters of interest and concern in the parish before the meeting formally opens.
Post Office - Opening hours at the village Post Office are being extended from November 20 to December 20.
Monday to Friday, the Post Office will be open from 8am, instead of 8.30am. It will still close at 5.30pm.
And on Saturdays it will be open from 8.30am to 5.30pm. It usually closes at 12pm on Saturdays.
