A PAIR of North Willingham fencers have represented Great Britain at the international fencing championships.
Charlie Wright and George Bridge of Front Row Fencing had a successful debut at the 12th World Fence Building Championship in Germany.
Professional fence builders from eight nations had to erect a 70 meter long electric fence using three steel wires and attach a gate and post.
The judges were impressed with the quality of George and Charlie’s fences and awarded them sixth and seventh place, respectively.
Charlie said: “We thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the competition and are extremely grateful to have been given the opportunity to compete.
“We were lucky to have experienced such wonderful hospitality and friendliness and to have been able to learn from top fencers from around the world.”
The competition was won by 14-time champion Paul van Beers from New Zealand.
Charlie and George were selected for the competition after impressing judges at the National Fencing Competition held in Driffield.
