A Binbrook teenager is celebrating after picking up two awards.

Paige Shackleton, 19, was named Outstanding Apprentice and Student of the Year during an awards ceremony at Lincoln College, where she has been studying for the last three years.

“It was such a surprise,” said Paige, who is an apprentice at Binbrook Early Learners.

“I knew I was getting one award, but it was such a shock to get the second.”

Paige first went to the nursery and pre-school setting at Binbrook Primary School for a week’s work experience in 2011.

She then started as an apprentice the following year, studying for her level two qualification in children and young people’s work force.

Paige completed her level two in 2014 and went on to start the level three qualification later that year. She is due to finish by Easter next year.

“Paige came to us as a quiet, shy schoolgirl but she has now developed into a confident member of staff,” said Binbrook Early Learners manager Mandy Williams. “She works very hard and we are all very proud of her.”
