De Aston School came to a standstill at 11 o’clock today (Wednesday, November 11), when all staff and students observed a minute’s silence in memory of past and present soldiers who have fought and died for the country.

The Last Post was played by ICT teacher Dawn Olsen after a few words from the head teacher Ellenor Beighton.

While most of the school observed their minute’s silence in classrooms, a number of staff, along with representatives from each year group, gathered in front of the school’s memorial plaque.

Sixth Form Heads of School, Emily Higgins and James Mayer, laid a wreath.

In the lead up to Armistice Day, members of staff have been busy raising awareness, including a display in the reception area.
