Pilot Officer Sam Goffin has won the Ganderton Sword, as the best graduate from the Initial Officers Course for the Training Branch of the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.

Sam was judged to have demonstrated the best overall officer qualities, leadership and potential of all the graduates over the past 12 months.

And with around 200 graduates this is an outstanding achievement.

As well as working with Market Rasen Air Cadets, he plays a significant role in the Junior Leaders Course, where he passes on his expertise to young people wishing to follow in his footsteps.

For youngsters aged 12, and in year 8 at school, to 17 wishing to join, the local ATC Squadron meets in Waterloo Street, Market Rasen, on Tuesday and Friday from 7pm to 9.15pm
