Wragby man fined after test driving car

A Wragby man, who test drove his girlfriend’s car after he had repaired the brakes, was disqualified from driving.

Skegness Magistrates heard that Gary Kutcher, 31, of Willow Court, admitted driving whilst disqualified and without insurance on May 10 in Horncastle Road, Wragby.

Police officers saw Kutcher driving the Escort car on the A158 at around 9.45pm.

When he saw them he ran away but after his girlfriend rang him he came back very apologetic to the officers.

He told them he had been repairing the brakes and was test driving the car.

Mitigating for Kutcher, Andrea Wilkes said his girlfriend had been reluctant to let him drive the car and was prepared to test them herself when she drove it but felt that as his children would be in the car he should test in on the road himself.

She said he only drove a short distance and that although in fact his period of disqualification had finished, he still had to complete an extended driving test before getting his licence back.

He was fined £300 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
