Video: Daughter of missing woman Anne Simpson ‘hopes for answers’ as divers continue search for body

Waiting for Video...

A MISSING mother’s family were today (Tuesday, May 15) hoping over seven years of anguish could be concluded after police divers resumed the hunt for her following a tip-off.

Police frogmen began their search of a lake at the Lakeside Caravan Park in Sutton on Sea this morning.

It is thought the search of the lake and local area may last several days.

Their renewed hunt for Anne comes after an anonymous male caller revealed new information about her disappearance. She was last seen in Skegness in September 2004.

Anne’s daughter Jo Hill has appealed for anyone with more information to come forward to help conclude years of tormenting uncertainty once and for all.

Speaking to the Standard and its sister paper the Mablethorpe Leader, she said: “I know it’s a long time ago but if anyone has any kind of information whatsoever it might help.

“I was only told about the developments this morning so I’m a bit all over the place at the moment but it’s a positive thing that this is happening and I’m hoping by the end of it all I will have an answer to take home for the rest of the family.

“The last years have been horrible. You wake up every morning not knowing what happened or where she is.

“None of us believed that she was still alive, because she used to call us most days and would never disappear like this, so it’s been absolutely awful.”

Meanwhile, investigating officers have also arrested a 62-year-old man in Devon in connection with the disappearance and were questioning him at the time this article went live online.

Anne, who was 60 when she disappeared while staying at Coastfields Holiday Village, was not known to have had any connection with the Lakeside Caravan Park in Sutton on Sea.

DCI Nigel Storey said: “I believe that the anonymous caller possesses further information that will help us to obtain answers for Anne’s family and I would urge that person to contact us again and help me find out what happened on the day Anne disappeared.”

If you have any information call the police on 101.
