Rogue company targets pensioner

AN ELDERLY man has been targeted by a rogue burglar alarm company.

An 87-year-old man from Caistor paid a £699 installation fee and was then signed up for a £2,800 maintenance fee. He was then asked to sign away his rights to cancel within seven days which he did.

Police are warning these practices are illegal and this company deliberately targeted an elderly person. The incident happened on August 12.

Trading Standards has been informed and have powers to deal with companies who behave in this way.

Police are encouraging residents to keep an eye on elderly or vulnerable residents as companies such as this deliberately target them.
