Poachers are using four-wheel drives and flashing lights to kill foxes and deer in the Rasen area, according to Lincolnshire Police.

After being praised for taking a lead on wildlife crime, the force provided more of a district breakdown on the offences committed in the county.

“We have had a number of hare coursing incidents in and around the Louth area and have also had deer poaching and night time illegal lamping activities around the Market Rasen area. I would urge members of the public to ring in and report all incidents of wildlife crime, which includes poaching and hare coursing as this will help us to create a better intelligence picture so we can deploy officers to the hot spot areas,” said PC Nick Willey, force wildlife rural crime officer.

The World Animal Protection Society praised the force earlier this month, which follows Lincolnshire Police launching Operation Galileo to tackle hare coursing, which is on the rise in the county, plus its work combatting poaching and livestock theft.
