POLICE investigating the murder of a man found near Caistor have confirmed his identity.
A post mortem examination has confirmed the body was that of 25-year-old man, Arvydas Skrinkas. His body was found on farm land near Great Limber by Humberside Police officers on Tuesday, January 10.
Police had been carrying out the search as part of an ongoing missing persons investigation after Mr Skrinkas was reported missing on December 27. It is now a murder investigation.
Mr Skrinkas was from Lithuania, not Latvia as police originally thought, and was living in Scunthorpe when he went missing.
Two men – both Lithuanian and living in the Scunthorpe area – are on remand after being charged with offences in connection with the ongoing missing persons investigation. The men are aged 24 and 26 years old.
Murder squad detective Chief Insp Steve Hibbitt said: “We can confirm a murder investigation has been launched following the discovery of a deceased white man on farm land near Great Limber on Tuesday. “The body was discovered by officers who were conducting searches as part of an ongoing missing persons inquiry. “I would like to take this opportunity to reassure the public that our initial inquiries suggest this was an isolated incident however we are yet to fully establish the circumstances which led to the death of a man.”
