Guilty plea in speed camera arson case

TWO men have pleaded guilty to committing an arson attack on a speed camera, Lincoln Crown Court heard.

Ashley Rowland, 23, of Adwick Road, Mexborough admitted setting fire to a Lincolnshire Police speed camera on the A631 at Hemswell Cliff.

Anthony Luty, 28, of Hollowgate, Barnborough, Doncaster, pleaded guilty to conspiring to commit an arson attack on the speed camera which was set alight on October, 18 last year.

Mr Luty was also accused of perverting the course of justice after allegedly entering into an agreement with Mr Rowland to destroy the Hemswell Cliff camera, which had allegedly photographed him speeding on October 17, 2011. He pleaded not guilty to this change and this has been accepted by the court.

The pair are due to be sentenced at Lincoln Crown Court on October 9.
