Brigg man in court for having cannabis plants
A BRIGG man has been given a 12-month community order after police discovered eight cannabis plants during a drugs raid at his home.
Neil Harris, 41, of Elm Way was arrested after police executed a drugs warrant on February 10, 2012.
He was taken into custody at Scunthorpe Police Station and later charged with the possession and production of cannabis.
Harris was sentenced when appeared at Scunthorpe Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, June 28 - he has to do 80 hours unpaid work and was ordered to pay £85 court costs.
Neighbourhood Sergeant for Brigg, Howard Garlick said: “The arrest and charge of Mr Harris sends a message to those individuals who attempt to evade the police and sends a warning that the production of cannabis and any other drugs offences will not be tolerated.
“I continue to encourage the local community of Brigg and the surrounding areas to provide police with information which may help assist in the fight against crime.”
Anyone who wishes to report something is asked to call Humberside Police on 101.
