Attempted metal theft at Nettleton substation

POLICE are looking for thieves who fled scene after they were caught trying to steal copper from a Nettleton substation.

It is thought that five offenders used a car to rip the door of the electricity substation in Mansgate Hill at about midday on Tuesday.

They then used cutting equipment to remove the transformer. Police disturbed the offenders, who fled the scene leaving the transformer behind.

A vehicle believed to have been used in the crime was later found abandoned.

Police are appealing for any witnesses, or anyone with any information to get in touch with them as soon as possible.
