ONE of the county’s best-known names will be back in production this week.
Tom Wood’s beer ceased production after Highwood Brewery went into liquidation earlier this month.
But now the Tom Wood’s beer brand has been purchased by Tom Wood Beers Ltd, a consortium of local people with a passion for Tom Wood’s beer.
The brewery will be headed up by none other than Tom Wood himself, while Toni, John and Rhys will look after things in the office, logistics and brewery respectively, so there will be plenty of familiar faces and voices.
Tom Wood said: “I’m absolutely delighted that there has been so much support locally and that these people have come forward to ensure the survival of the brand I have been working on for the past 16 years.
“It is fantastic news as far as I am concerned.”
Brewing will hopefully start again today, Wednesday, at the Melton Ross site on the well-known core range, as well as the range of seasonal beers.
The company will also continue to be the UK importers of award-winning Riegele beers from Augsburg in Germany, available in bottles and kegs.
