It’s Volunteers’ Week and this year marks the 30th anniversary of this national celebration of the contribution millions of volunteers make on a daily basis across the UK.
Closer to home, Rasen Hub is going one better and dedicating a whole month to volunteers.
“We decided to make this month’s special display all about the history of volunteering,” said recently appointed volunteer coordinator Michelle Molave.
“It is estimated around 15 million people volunteer in some way or other every month in the UK, so it really is a big thing.”
The display will be available to see at Rasen Hub in the town’s Union Street between 10am and 4pm Monday to Wednesday and on Fridays.
And Michelle will also be on hand to chat to.
Also during the month, Rasen Hub will be launching its Volunteer Access Point.
On June 25 - launch day itself - Heather Arnatt, volunteer project officer for Voluntary Centre Services (VCS), will be at the Hub giving various talks, aimed at potential volunteers.
She is also hoping employers who are willing to support their employees to carry out volunteering opportunities will also go along.
“The access point will help direct people keen to volunteer in some way to the right role for them,” added Michelle.
“And having it here at Rasen Hub, it means people don’t have to traipse into Gainsborough or Lincoln to find these roles.
“We will be working closely with VCS and through the Do It website.”
