Members of Market Rasen Cricket Club put down their bats and balls to pick up brushes and trowels to take part in the annual CricketForce event.

Sponsored by Natwest, CricketForce encourages members of the club and the local community to get together to get the ground ready for the new season.

“We have taken part in the Cricketforce initiative for a number of years now and are grateful to the money will; always receive,” said cricket secretary Catherine Fussey.

“It is always good to have a fresh start to the season.”

As well as making sure the ground and practice area were in peak condition, it was also a chance to give the club house, changing rooms and the all important scoreboard hut a bit of care and attention.

This year, the club will be fielding nine teams.

There are five men’s teams, with the Saturday 1st team facing their first season in the Lincolnshire ECB League, one ladies’ team and three junior teams - Under 10s, Under 13s and Under 15s.

Practice nights at the junior nets are held on Thursday evenings, with U11 and below from 6pm to 7pm and U13, U15 and Ladies from 7pm to 8pm.

The club has also started a Friday afternoon session in De Aston Sports Hall, from 3.30pm to 5.30pm.

These sessions take place in term time only and are run by a qualified coach.

They are aimed at those aged 11 to 15 years of age and everyone is welcome - boys and girls.

The cricket club - Rase Park - can be found in the town’s Rase Lane, behind the Gallamore Lane industrial estate.

Members of the football and cricket club will also be at the town’s Tesco store this Saturday, April 26 bag-packing.
