The Thomas Bell Cycling Team - Matt Dawson, Simon Sands, Andrew Major and Gavin Yule - set themselves a target of £2,500 to raise for the charity by taking part in the Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100.

But the quartet have smashed that target and the amount raised currently stands at raised £6718.75.

“We are very overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity towards our chosen charity, which is very close to our hearts, and we would like to thank everyone for their support,” said Andrew Major.

Celebrating the legacy for cycling created by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the ride started in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and then followed a 100-mile route on closed roads through the capital and into Surrey, with some leg-testing climbs, and finishing on the Mall back in London.

“It wasn’t the easiest of events to take part in due to the sheer volume of participants,” said Andrew.

“But it has been a fantastic experience and knowing we have raised over £6,500 for Pancreatic Cancer has made it all worthwhile.’’

There is still time to pledge sponsorship to the team and help raise more money for Pancreatic Cancer Uk.
