Obituary: Cecil Rowson Shortland

The funeral service for retired farmer Cecil Shortland, aged 91, of Caistor, was held at Caistor Methodist Church.

The Rev Sarah Parkin officiated at the service, with arrangements by J Marshall of Market Rasen.

Cecil was born in Fleet, South Lincolnshire. During World War Two, he served with the 7th Battalion Hampshire Regiment, and was among those who landed on Gold Beach on day two of the D-Day Landings.

Cecil was a member of the Caravan Club for 42 years and was the information officer for the caravan club national rally.

He was also a member of the Royal British Legion.
