Town hall - Margaret Sergeant presided over the town hall committee’s annual meeting, which was tinged with sadness following the death of Kathy Lowe, chairman for many years and remembered for the work she had put into supporting the hall.

In her memory, Margaret urged the committee to continue working together.

Thanks were expressed to the caretakers and cleaner for their hard work.

Reports were given on the 200 club by Tressa Machin and the bingo sessions by Pat Steel, who thanked all her helpers and Margaret Kane for running the Saturday night bingo sessions.

Bookings secretary Margaret Newland reported that the hire of the building was healthy, with some bookings already in for 2017.

Unfortunately, the Friday whist club no longer met, but, before finishing, made a donation of £224 to the hall.

Chairman for the coming year is Tressa Machin, with Ron Barnes as vice-chairman.

Kylie Machin was confirmed as secretary, Margaret Sergeant as treasurer and Margaret Newland as bookings secretary.

The rest of the committee will be made up from group representatives and co-opted members.

At the end of the meeting, a minute’s silence was held to honour the memory of Kathy Lowe, followed by a toast.

Methodist church - Now summer is approaching, the Friday Supper Club is getting ready to go out and about.

June 17 will be a walk out at Scrivelsby by kind invitation of Mr and Mrs Francis Dymoke.

Membership is not a requirement to join in with the group and more information is available from Mo Fricke on 01673 858334 or Sue Johnson 01673 858265.

On Sunday, June 12, there will be a special service to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.

The service will start at 10.30am and everyone will be welcome.

Coach outing - The sun shone beautifully for the first of the monthly coach outings arranged for members of the Wragby branch of Disability Lincs and many of them took advantage of an away day to Dobbie’s Garden Centre in Barleborough.

There was plenty of choice of refreshment, including snacks and meals, and, as it was such a lovely day, they were able to stroll outdoors, too, before boarding the bus for the homeward journey.

Parish council - The next meeting will be in the town hall on Monday, June 6, starting at 7.15pm, with a 15-minute open session to give members of the public an opportunity to raise matters of interest and concern to them in the parish.

They can then stay and listen to the discussion on items on the agenda when the council meeting is formally opened at 7.30pm.

Bingo - The recent family bingo session raised £80.82 for the hall refurbishment fund, while a tombola raised £54 for the Army Benevolent Fund.

The next family bingo session will be in the town hall on Saturday, June 11, with eyes down at 7.30pm.
