Community awards

West Lindsey District Council are to launch their first ever Community Awards with three awards categories up for grabs.

WLDC wants to recognise people who devote time and effort into making their neighbourhood a better place.

They are the people who seek no reward for their outstanding efforts.

If you know someone who deserves to be praised the council wants to hear from you so they can celebrate their work.

They might be a volunteer, a carer, a person who shows great courage, who inspires others, a fund raiser or maybe a great neighbour.

All you need to do is contact the council with your nomination and why they ought to be recognised.

The categories for the awards are: Area Champion 2012, Volunteer of the Year 2012 and Parish/Town Council of the Year 2012.

In the Area Champion award, there will be six area champions awarded and one of them will be voted as West Lindsey Citizen of the Year 2012.

The glittering award ceremony will be held on Monday December 10, 7pm at the Christmas Council meeting in the Guildhall, Gainsborough.

These awards are backed by the Chairman, Councillor Jessie Milne, who is keen to see a wide variety of people being nominated.

She said: “I hope that this will be the first of many more years where we can thank people for their community work.”

The nomination forms are available from the website at www.west-lindsey.gov.uk/communityawards.

Those who fill out forms are asked to include a number of details about the person they are nominating.

For example, for the Area Champion award details of the area in which the nominee has excelled, how have they demonstrated their service worth recognising, what benefits they have brought to their community and for how long they have been providing their service need to be included.

The closing date for forms is Thursday November 15. For further details contact Nicola Calver on 01427 676596.
