After Market Rasen B&B operator Ken Bridger and wife Jane gained 5-stars for food hygiene, so did fellow town councillor and mayor John Matthews.

West Lindsey’s food hygiene inspectors visited the mayor’s Beechwood Guest House on Willingam Road on March 6. The Scores on the Doors website reported the premises were ‘very good’ for food hygiene and safety, ‘very good’ for structural compliance and there was ‘good’ confidence in management.

Mayor Matthews said he and wife Jayne have always received 5-stars since the rating system was launched in 2007 and awarded in 2008.

“Our visitors can see our rating displayed , and must have confidence in their choice of booking. Maintaining the standard of cleanliness is a proprietors obligation to them selves and their customers. Cleanliness is due diligence, the paperwork is a daily duty. There really are no excuses for either,” he said.

Other recent ratings include Wold View House B&B, Tealby, 1*; Queens Head, Station Rd, North Kelsey, 2*; Cross Keys, Brigg Rd, Grasby, 3*; Union Jack Fish Bar, Market Rasen, 3*; The Aston Arms, Market Rasen, 4*.
