GENEROUS shoppers in Market Rasen have helped to top up a community larder.

Over the past few weeks, customers at the town’s Tesco store were asked to buy one more item than they needed and donate it to the Salvation Army food store.

“And, as always, our customers didn’t let us down,” said Tesco community champion Jenny Stimson.

“We placed a trolley at the door and in no time at all it was full of items.

“We are very grateful to everyone who continues to support our charity collections.”

Salvation Army envoy Anne Chaplain went along to collect the trolley-full of goods, which will be used to provide food boxes to those in need.

“People are so very generous,” she said.

“We really do thank everyone for their continued support of our community larder, which can really make a difference to people.”

To find out more about the community larder, call in to the Salvation Army shop in the John Street centre, where anyone wanting to make use of the community larder can speak to the manager, Sarah Steer, or Anne in complete confidence.
