A MARKET Rasen pub has been named in the Famous Top 100.

The Aston Arms in the town’s Market Place made it through from 38,000 pubs nationwide to be included in the list of renowned pubs, all famous for a reason.

And for the Aston, of course, this was the link to Bernie Taupin and Elton John.

Lyricist Bernie Taupin spent much of his youth drinking and playing snooker at the pub.

He also witnessed the many scrapes that took place at the time, famously inspiring the 1973 hit Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting.
