Brigg business is booming and the latest edition is the multi-million pound store development for Lidl.
The site in Atherton Way is just a short distance from where the company has traded for the past decade or more.
More than three years in the planning and taking eight months to build, the new site will have 90 parking spaces and one benefit to the community is the company’s investment into walkway improvements on the riverside.
“They seem to have made a very good job of both the new store and the improvements in the landscaping between the store and the river,” said Town Mayor Coun Carl Sherwood, who formally opened the store.
“The new development is of real benefit to the town.”
At last month’s Civic Dinner, Coun Sherwood told guests one of the most pleasing aspects of his mayoral year had been the ongoing improvements in an area which had looked neglected and Lidl’s opening of the new store was yet another further enhancing of facilities in that part of town.
Planning permission for Tesco to expand onto the old Lidl site is already approved, but no formal date for the expansion has been given.
