The former Kar Restaurant premises on Old Courts Road in Brigg has been sold.

Well known local businessman Harry Kar closed his Chinese outlet two years ago and it was put on the market.

Now the premises are being converted into a new Indian restaurant, the Mumbai Lounge set to open next month, with joint owners Mohsin Khan and Mujibu Rahman delighted to be moving into the town.

“We are excited about the prospects in Brigg,” said Mohsin.

“We knew the Kar Restaurant was popular. It is in a good situation and has a large car park in front of it.

“We like Brigg it is a very historic town and is a vibrant place to do business.”

Coming with them is their North Lincolnshire award winning chef Abdul Khalique.

The businessmen already run two similar restaurants, the Jade Pavilion in Scunthorpe and the Raj Pavilion in Hull, and have been in business for 20 years locally.

“We had the Jade Pavilion initially as a Chinese Restaurant and then converted it to an Indian,” said Mohsin.

“We have attracted a lot of customers from Brigg to our Scunthorpe restaurant, now we are in the town!

“It just all fitted together that we should come here,” said Mohsin, pictured above left, with chef Abdul Khalique and business partner Mujibu Rahman.Extensive repairs and refabrication are now being carried out and the hope is the restaurant will be open by the end of November.
