A MARKET Rasen salon is giving residents yet another reason to stay local and support Buy Local.
Style Studio in Union Street is now offering services that it says people would have previously had to travel to places like Lincoln and Nottingham for.
The salon – set up seven-years-ago by Market Rasen women Rachelle Dalton and Amber Shepherd – now does a special blow dry that lasts for five months and a popular type of hair extension that is weaved into people’s hair so no glue is needed.
The women say business is thriving and they have just taken on a new member of staff bringing their total number of employees to five people – all from the local area.
Rachelle said: “I’m excited that we’re the first place in the area to offer these services – we’re bringing something new to the town to help keep people in Market Rasen.
“Local businesses need the support of local people – they will fold if they don’t get it.
“We’re lucky because supermarkets and the internet can’t take trade away from hairdressers, but I would encourage everyone to make sure other businesses, such as the local butcher, don’t become victims. We’ve got to keep shopping locally, it doesn’t take a lot of effort.”
But Rachelle and Amber say they would not be where they are today if it was not for the support of their loyal customers.
“I would like to thank every single one of them for all their support over the years,” said Rachelle.
She thinks Market Rasen could be improved by keeping it tidy and wants everyone to make an effort to respect their town.
The salon will soon be holding a demonstration of its latest hair extension method, but a date for this has yet to be set.
