An innovative project to help the rural jobless has secured a £12,000 award from the European Social Fund.

The money has been awarded to the Lincolnshire Wolds Training Centre (LWTC), based in Brookenby, to expand their project ‘Yes You Can’ to other small villages across the Northern AONB.

“This part of the ANOB, is isolated, with small businesses wary of hiring those with little experience,” said principal Elizabeth Bryson.

“The cost of travel, scattered specialist companies and little prospect of finding a career locally, and no response to their applications has meant that the young and mature job seekers either leave the county or give up.”

Yes You Can provides DWP required courses and assessments.

The job club, run as a social group, includes days out, helping write CVs, visiting potential employers with mentors and more.
