Festival Hall’s £22,000 makeover

MORE cash is being ploughed into Market Rasen’s Festival Hall in a push to bring the building back to life.

Market Rasen Town Council has given the go ahead to £22,000 of repairs at the building on Caistor Road.

The latest round of work on the building will see ceiling repairs in the ladies’ toilet and bar, electrical work, new lights, fans, a complete clean of the kitchen and the floor will be sanded and re-varnished.

Thousands of pounds have been spent on improving the hall over the years after calls from residents for something to be done.

In 2009 there were suggestions Festival Hall should be demolished but this did not amount to anything.

Market Rasen mayor Ken Bridger said: “We’re spending a lot of money to get it up too scratch.”

The hall was built in 1972 and has a main hall, committee room, kitchen and bar. It can hold 400 people and is used for wedding receptions, formal dinners, children’s parties and by community groups for things such as mother and toddler clubs.
