A survey into the impact of the Portas Pilot scheme on Market Rasen has attracted more than 100 responses.

Tealby student Jonathan Purkiss is in his final year at Northumbria University studying Estates Management and is researching the success of the ‘Portas Pilot’ scheme for his dissertation.

“MR BIG is approaching its third anniversary since the first open meeting to bid for ‘Portas Pilot’ funding. Market Rasen has successfully received Government funding over the last two years to improve the town’s market appeal. This research is focusing on the impact the funding has had on the town and seeks local opinions on the success or otherwise of the scheme,” he said.

Sara Scott, chair of MR BIG said: “Jonny is doing a great job - he has over 100 responses. I think it will be very valuable to have someone make an independent review of the work that’s been done in Market Rasen. Plus it’s great to know that issues of town transformation are being tackled by a younger generation - who will be the planners and architects of the future.”
