Businesses still being attracted to Rasen

One of the newest to arrive in the town is Ireland’s Farm machinery Ltd, which has been operating in the Boston area for more than two decades.

Rasen branch manager and sales representative Darryl Dunn explained the expansion to Market Rasen was based on the town’s prime location.

“We wanted somewhere in the northern part of the county,” he said.

“Market Rasen has easy access to the Lincoln area and the area further north in the county, so it was ideal.”

The need for the northern site is due to the company taking on the Kubota franchise, which means they cover an area from Long Sutton to just below Brigg.

“The franchise was our main driving force for moving north, as it is essential to cover the whole area,” added Darryl.

“We looked at several places around Lincoln and Wragby, as well as Rasen, but the Rasen site was the best option, as it is most central to our area.

“Lincolnshire is, of course, a big agricultural community and we are looking forward to providing a service to this area.

“It helps everyone if travelling time can be reduced when dealing with machinery.”

As well as a new business in the town, the expansion for Ireland’s to the Gallamore Lane Industrial Site has also created jobs.

“Three jobs have been created,” said Darryl, “but we are looking to create more in the future, as business hopefully grows.”

Established in 1994, Ireland’s Farm Machinery Ltd is a family owned company which supplies new and used farm machinery for sale and rent.

At the Market Rasen site, they are currently in the throes of setting up a workshop to cope with the demand for machinery servicing.

Currently full servicing is available at the company’s Carrington and Sutterton sites.

The Gallamore Lane site does, however, have a full stores area on site.

“Servicing and the stores depot are key to being able to provide a whole package to our customers,” said Darryl.

“We have made a good start at this site and it will continue to develop.”

The opening of the new depot was marked with a barbecue and open afternoon - albeit in the pouring rain.
