Another year and another rewarded for Lincolnshire crisp manufacturer

Award winning start to year

Award winning start to year

One of our area’s food producers has started the year with another award.

For the second consecutive year, Pipers Crisps has been voted ‘Best Brand’ in a recent survey of British producers.

The award celebrates the most successful speciality food and drink products on sale in delicatessens, farm shops and food halls.

The Elsham-based crisp maker topped the ‘Savoury Snacks’ section, as voted for by the retailers themselves.

And founder Alex Albone says the ‘Best Brand’ result is a great start to 2014, in which Pipers Crisps will celebrate 10-years of crisp making.

“Despite the recession we’re still growing strongly,” he said.

“We’re very proud to have won the ‘Best Brand’ accolade because it’s voted for by the retailers themselves; our own customers.

“It shows that we’re working hard doing the right things, which is clearly valued by our loyal clients.”

Pipers is still staunchly independent and still leading the field among a growing number of gourmet crisp makers.

“We like to do things first and let others follow,” added Alex.

“We were the first gourmet crisps to celebrate and promote the diversity and provenance of British flavours.

“We won’t sell our crisps through major supermarket chains so that our independent retailers can offer a real point of difference at a sensible margin.

“We also make our own crisps in our own production facility.

“There are still a few brands that don’t make their own and, for us, this is an important difference.

“It shows we know what we’re doing and that we’re passionate about taste, product quality, freshness and shelf life - vital ingredients for our success.”
